Members of the Inner Wheel Shimla Mid Town gave various gifts to speciallyabled children at Abhi. An electro muscle therapy machine was gifted for physiotherapy. The children were also provided with gifts such as books, coulouring books, pencils, crayons and stationery. The birthday of a child was celebrated.

NSUI demands renaming HPU

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Friday demanded that the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) should be renamed after former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. The NSUI activists submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of the HPU regarding their demand. They said the former CM was founder of modern Himachal and was instrumental in setting up various educational institutes across the state.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
