Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually laid the foundation stones of three critical care medical blocks to be built in Una district, Tanda in Kangra and Nerchowk medical college in Mandi district, from Rajkot in Gujarat. Each block will have a six-floor building having a 50-bed facility to be built at a cost of Rs 17.36 crore each. Besides, the Prime Minister announced three food safety testing mobile laboratory vans for Shimla, Hamirpur and Mandi.

Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur participated in the programme as chief guest at the auditorium of Nerchowk medical college and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for ‘his gift’. He said, “Last year, during the visit of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, we had requested him for a critical care block at Nerchowk medical college, Mandi. Today, the Prime Minister laid its foundation stone. During the previous BJP government in the state, we had taken many steps to strengthen health services at Nerchowk medical college. We are happy that high-level health services are now being provided there.”
