A portion of under construction Matour-Shimla four-lane road was washed away near Ranital, about 30 kilometres from Dharamsala. Two lanes of the four lane road near Ranital were washed away in the morning hours after heavy rains throughout the night in Kangra region. Sources here said that road got washed away as the old retaining wall with the support of which was standing gave away.

The debris from the damaged portion of road fell over the track of narrow-gauge Pathankot Jogindernagar railway line. The rail services over the track had already been suspended due to monsoons. However, the damage to the track may delay the resumption of train services to the region, the sources available here said.

Despite damage to the portion of national highway, the traffic was not disrupted as remaining two lanes of national highway were still intact.
