According to the SE, the tower number 12 of the transmission line was severely damaged due to a landslide and was on the verge of collapse. The HPSEBL had taken up the work to restore the tower on a war footing. As a temporary measure, the power board had erected a six-pole structure to ensure regular power supply until the damaged tower is permanently restored, he added.
The officer said that to shift high-tension wires from the damaged tower to new poles, power supply would remain disrupted from 10 am on October 27 to 5 pm on October 28. Kullu, Bhuntar, Sarabai, Lug Valley, Nagwain, Larji, Balichowki, Banjar and surrounding regions would be affected by the power cut.
Thakur said that the HPSEBL would make every effort to minimise inconvenience to the public by supplying electricity through alternative sources, including the MPCL Jari-Bajaura line and the Fozal-Naggar-Bajaura line, wherever possible. These backup arrangements were being made to ensure that only a minimum number of consumers were affected during the maintenance period.
He said, “We sincerely request all consumers to bear with us during this period of unavoidable disruption. The board is making every possible effort to restore power supply at the earliest and ensure normalcy.” The SE added that the repair work was crucial for maintaining the stability and safety of the power network, especially in the wake of recent landslides that had caused severe damage to the power infrastructure in the region. He assured people that teams were working round the clock to complete the task efficiently so that power supply could be restored at the earliest.
