Holding a protest against the proposed dissolution of around 700 posts in the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), the Joint Action Committee, comprising board’s employees, engineers and pensioners, today decided to launch a statewide movement if the decision was not withdrawn.

The Joint Action Committee said the movement would start with a big protest in Hamirpur on February 11. The future course of the agitation will be decided after the Hamirpur rally, the committee said. Apart from withdrawing the decision to abolish 700 posts, the committee is demanding restoration of old pension, new recruitment in the board, retirement benefits and prompt payment of pension arrears of pensioners and a permanent policy for the outsourced employees.
