In a notification issued here today by the government, private schools affiliated to the CBSE, the ICSE and the HP Board of School Education have been directed to charge only tuition fee while other charges such as building fund, maintenance fund, sports fund, computer fee, co-curricular fee etc should be deferred during the lockdown period.
The notification directed the managements not to increase fee and the same should be charged on monthly basis and not on quarterly, and that too only for the classes for which online learning material had been provided.
Director, Higher Education, Dr Amarjeet Sharma said no transportation fee should be charged during the period and no student should be deprived of online classes or reading material in case of inability to pay the fee due to financial crisis.
The school managements have also been told that no fine should be imposed and the name of students should not be struck off from the school roll, in case any parent fails to deposit the tuition fee.
The managements of private schools should neither stop payment of monthly salary nor reduce the existing total emoluments being paid to the teaching and non-teaching staff in the name of non-availability of funds, says the notification.
The managements should arrange funds in case of any shortfall from the society or trust running the school, said the notification, adding that any defiance in the matter should be viewed seriously.
Meanwhile, no decision has been taken regarding the reopening of schools and colleges and conducting examinations of undergraduate class. Earlier, the government had indicated that the examinations would be conducted in June and admissions would start from July.
