Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has submitted a privilege motion under Rule 75 of the Assembly’s Procedure and Conduct rules against Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, accusing him of repeatedly using provocative and unparliamentary language during the ongoing winter session. Rule 75 deals with breaches of privilege and contempt of the House.

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania confirmed that his office has received the motion and forwarded it to the Vidhan Sabha Secretary for detailed scrutiny. “It is under examination,” he said.

Negi said Thakur had been using objectionable language towards him since the start of the session. Despite multiple requests on the floor of the House asking the LoP to maintain decorum, Negi alleged that Thakur continued making targeted remarks.
