The Himachal Pradesh University unit of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has demanded that the state government constitute a committee to conduct a judicial inquiry of the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of professors in the university.

SFI campus secretary Sunny Seakta, in a press statement, said the SFI had consistently been questioning the recruitment process conducted by former Vice-Chancellor Sikander Kumar during the pandemic. A case related to the recruitment process had surfaced in the Mathematics Department, and had reached the high court, he added. “Following this, the high court cancelled the appointments of two professors. However, despite this order being delivered almost a month ago, the university has not removed the professors,” said Seakta.
