Says state government determined to provide employment to jobless youth

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said the government was committed to fulfll the employment guarantee, which was one of the 10 guarantees made by the Congress.

Vikramaditya was speaking at the inauguration of one-day employment fair organised at Banuti in Dudhalti gram panchayat of the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency. “The state government is determined to provide employment to jobless youth and the process for filling up about 20,000 post in the government sector is underway,” he stated.

Giving details, the minister said 13,000 post in NTT, 1,000 post of TGT Arts, Medical and Non-Medical, 2,000 post of vocational teachers, 2,000 post of doctors and paramedical staff in the Health Department and 3,000 post in other departments will be filled. Besides, 10,000 Van Mitras were being appointed in the entire state, he said.

“The youth is the future of the country and play an important role in nation building. It is the responsibility of the state government to empower the youth and provide maximum employment opportunities to them. Besides, regularly filling vacant posts in government departments, employment fairs are being organised from time to time,” he said.

He said at today’s job fair, employers from 45 companies in Baddi, Nalagarh, Paonta Sahib and Una industrial areas had been invited. These include companies from pharma sector, security, hospitality, BTech, manufacturing sector, automobile sector, etc.

“Under an agreement, managements of the companies have been issued guidelines by the government to provide 70 per cent employment to the state youth,” he said.

Vikramaditya also visited stalls of all 45 companies and obtained information regarding employment opportunities they were offering and gave them necessary guidelines.

Deputy Director, Labour and Employment Department, Sandeep Thakur said over 1,059 unemployed youths had got themselves registered at the job fair. A total of 673 youths cleared the first interview and will be invited by the companies for the second interview.
