Projects worth Rs 25 cr reviewed at Lahaul-Spiti committee meeting

A district-level review meeting for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) was held yesterday at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Keylong, Lahaul-Spiti. Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana, the meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing developmental projects under the scheme.

DC Bhadana underlined the importance of PMJVK in bridging developmental gaps in minority-concentrated areas (MCAs), particularly through interventions in education, healthcare, skill development, and women empowerment. She announced that Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned for 11 projects in the district, with tenders finalised for five and construction already initiated at select sites.

So far, Rs 5.38 crore has been released for various works. Notable projects include: Rs 4.33 crore for procurement of sports, mountaineering, and rescue equipment at the Jispa sub-centre; Rs 6.06 crore for a winter water supply scheme in Gondhla; Rs 1.22 crore for solarisation of 60 district schools; Rs 3.33 crore for boys’ and girls’ hostel blocks at Jispa; Rs 38 lakh for solar energy systems in health institutions; Rs 1.94 crore under the Buddhist Development Programme for tourist infrastructure in Miyar Valley; 100 kW solar plant with battery backup in Kaza; Rs 1.37 crore for a Community/One-Stop Centre in Yurnath; and solar plants and a sports climbing wall at Jispa.

DC Bhadana instructed departments to expedite the tendering of pending projects and ensure timely documentation for new proposals. The meeting was coordinated by District Welfare Officer Khushvinder Thakur, who presented a detailed progress report.

Key attendees included SP Ilma Afroz, SDM Akanksha Sharma, Zila Parishad Chairperson Bina Devi, Tehsildar Ramesh Rana, and DPO Sanjay Dogra.
