The Urban Development Department has mooted a proposal to merge the municipal committees of Baddi and Nalagarh to form a corporation. The district administration has sent a detailed report about the merger proposal, according to a letter sent by the Director, Urban Department, on August 6.

However, the Congress has criticised the proposal saying the decision has been taken on the demand of the investors.

Former Congress MLA Ramkumar Chaudhary said that taking such a decision without consulting elected representatives and political parties was not right, as people would face a lot of problems.
