Residents of Band Vihar, Saliana Patti, Deogram, Saliyana villages of Palampur today held a protest against the poor condition of roads.

The villagers threatened an agitation if the state government failed to repair the roads, which were full of potholes.

Dr NL Sharma, a resident, said there was none to look after the internal roads in the area.

The matter was brought to the notice of the state Public Works Department and other authorities time and again but no necessary steps were initiated.

Another villager Naresh Kumar said the roads in this area had not been repaired in the past four years. The Executive Engineer, Public Works Department , was also approached by the villagers and panchayat pardhan many times, but all in vain.

A deputation of villagers had also met officers and the Sub Divisional Magistrate last month in

this regard.

They had also directed Public Works Department officials to repair the roads, however, nothing had been done.
