Hundreds of people from various religious and social organisations of the lower Kangra district — comprising Nurpur, Jawali, Indora and Fatehpur — held a protest demonstration against the alleged atrocities and attacks on the Hindu community and temples in Bangladesh here on Tuesday. The rally, led by Trigart Santan Sanskriti Manch president Ved Prakash Sarswati, started from Chogan and culminated on the mini-secretariat building premises.

The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the President of India through Nurpur tehsildar Radhika Saini. They called upon the Bangladesh government to stop the alleged Hindu genocide and release the arrested religious leaders. In the memorandum, the religious and social organisations expressed anger over kidnapping, looting, arson and physical harassment of minorities in Bangladesh.
