The white coat ceremony for the 2024-25 MBBS batch was held on Monday at the Durbar Hall of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba.

In his address, Principal Dr Pankaj Gupta apprised the trainee doctors of the significance of the white coat.

Dr Gupta described the ceremony as a milestone in the journey towards a career in healthcare and a formal initiation for medical trainees.

During the event, Dr Gupta presented white coats to the new trainee doctors, stating that, by donning the white coat, they had chosen a path dedicated to serving humanity.

He said the white coat embodied identity, confidence, empowerment, and respect, while also symbolising the challenges and responsibilities that came with the profession.

Dr Gupta remarked that medicine was a noble profession, requiring hard work, dedication, compassion and empathy. He stressed a zero-tolerance policy toward ragging within the college, and advised students to report any ragging incidents immediately to the principal or members of the Anti-Ragging Committee of the college.

Additionally, he urged students to maintain discipline both on and off campus.

Dr Pradeep Singh, Dr Javed B Mulla, Dr Bimla, Dr Shridhar Rao, Dr Manik Sehgal, Dr Aditya Kashyap, Dr Balreet, Dr Amit, Dr Pooja, Dr Shweta, Dr Daisy, Dr Randeep Mann, Dr Sunil were among those present at the event.
