Punjab man arrested with 30g heroin in Shimla; case registered

A Punjab resident has been arrested with 30 grams of chitta (heroin) in Shoghi, about 13 km away from Shimla. The accused has been identified as Baljit Singh (28), a resident of Kadar Wala village in Moga district, Punjab.

According to police, the accused was arrested while a special cell team of the police was checking vehicles at Shoghi barrier. Police stopped a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus that was coming from Solan towards Shimla. During the checking, the contraband was found in the accused’s possession. Following the recovery, police immediately arrested him and seized the contraband.

Police officials confirmed the report and stated that a case under Section 21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 has been registered against the accused and further investigation is being carried out.
