Police said the accused worked at a local salon in Chamba. On Saturday, he reportedly started stalking the girl and reached the college. Distressed by his persistent behaviour, the student decided to seek help from the women’s police station located near Police Lines, Chamba. However, before she could reach the station, the accused intercepted her and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon.

The injured student somehow managed to free herself and escape the attacker’s grip. Locals who witnessed the attack immediately informed the police.

A team from Sadar Police Station, led by SHO Surender Kumar, reached the spot promptly and apprehended the accused. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita.
