Gurvinder, who hailed from Bhud village in Baddi, was allegedly pushed into the canal by his friend Raja in a state of panic after his condition deteriorated following an overdose of heroin, according to the FIR lodged by the deceased’s brother on April 17. The police swung into action after the registration of an FIR on the charge of kidnapping.

Gurvinder’s brother learnt about his death at 12:01 pm on April 16 through a recorded voice message of Raja received on his WhatsApp number where the latter stated that he had pushed Gurvinder into a canal at Ghanauli near Nangal.

SP, Baddi, Vinod Dhiman said, “Gurvinder had an overdose of heroin following which his condition deteriorated and Raja took him to a dispensary at the local hospital. Later, Raja drove towards Ropar in Gurvinder’s car and pushed him into the canal near Ghanouli.”
