PWD helper dies by suicide in Kasauli

A 31-year-old man, employed as a helper at the Public Works Department (PWD) Circuit House in Parwanoo, allegedly committed suicide in his room on Thursday morning.

According to police, the deceased identified as Jagdish Chauhan, a resident of Kasauli’s Dharda village, was found hanging from the rod of a ceiling fan.

Solan SP Gaurav Singh said that no suicide note was recovered from the spot.

The body was shifted to ESI Hospital, Parwanoo for postmortem. Police recorded the statements of family members and others present at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was married but was allegedly in a relationship with a woman known to his relatives. However, no foul play is suspected at this stage, police said.

Inquest proceedings are being carried out under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
