The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic spirit at Chaugan Ground here, where Public Works and Urban Development (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the march-past by police, NCC, NSS and Scouts and Guides. He also paid tributes to Dr YS Parmar and martyrs at Shaheed Chowk.

The minister honoured para-athlete Virender Singh for winning medals at the 2025 Sharjah International Open Para Athletics Meet, mountaineer and kabaddi player Kritika Sharma and 35 police personnel for exemplary service. Parade and cultural participants were also awarded.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal hoisted the national flag at the party’s district office Deepkamal here on the 79th Independence Day, joined by party workers and office-bearers. As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, tricolour rallies were organised across the three mandals of Nahan constituency.
