The Public Works Department today recarpeted a stretch leading from Nadaun Chowk to Anu Chowk. The 2.5-km road has been recarpeted at a cost of Rs1.5 crore.

Certain sections of the road were encroached upon, which usually lead to traffic jams.

The authorities removed the encroachments near the district courts.

Being a Sunday and limited traffic in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, the Public Works Department pressed heavy machinery to complete the entire work.

Vivek Sharma, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, said the road had badly worn out.

The Executive Enginner said the work had to be halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however the department directed the contractor to complete the task during the relaxation period.
