PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh has urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to increase the state’s annual allocation for roads under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme from the current Rs 120.63 crore to Rs 200 crore, starting from the current financial year.

In the letter to the Union Minister, Vikramaditya Singh said that Himachal had experienced large-scale damage to road infrastructure due to unprecedented rains during the monsoon season this year and a huge budget was needed for the restoration works. “Lives of lakhs of people would be positively impacted if the present allocation of funds for roads is enhanced to Rs 200 cr for the current and subsequent years,” the minister wrote.

Vikramaditya Singh wrote that the PWD had already incurred expenditure of Rs 1551.64 crore up to September, 2025, for which utilization certificates had already been submitted and the funds of Rs 1457.23 crore had been released. “The funds to the tune of Rs 94.41 cr are yet to be released by the ministry.” The minister wrote.
