Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today urged party workers to unite and strengthen the Congress by actively participating in Rahul Gandhi’s “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” campaign. He emphasised the need to raise public awareness about vote theft to safeguard democracy and uphold the people’s mandate.

Addressing party workers at Rajiv Bhawan, the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters, Singh launched the signature campaign for Shimla (Rural) Assembly Constituency, marking its beginning with his own signature. He called upon Congress members to conduct door-to-door outreach, ensuring that every resident of the constituency joins the drive. “For this campaign to succeed, every level of the organisation must contribute wholeheartedly,” he asserted.

Singh also appealed to workers and citizens to attend the unveiling of the statue of former six-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on October 13, calling it a moment of pride and respect for public sentiment. The late leader, he said, was the architect of modern Himachal Pradesh, whose contribution continues to inspire generations.

Highlighting his personal connection to the event, Vikramaditya, son of Virbhadra Singh, noted that Shimla (Rural) was not only his father’s political workplace but also held deep emotional significance for the family. The minister said the statue’s installation by the state government is a fitting tribute to the legacy of a leader who shaped the state’s development and identity.
