Priyam Negi, a student from Rampur, recently won a silver medal in mixed martial arts at a championship held in Indonesia. Upon her return to Rampur, she received a warm welcome from local residents and the school staff at the PM Shri Excellence Girls' Senior Secondary Shool, where celebrations were held in her honour. Priyam, a former student of the school, addressed the students encouraging them to pursue their goals with determination, resilience and hard work. In her speech, Priyam emphasised the importance of learning self defence, especially mixed martial arts, for young women. She also encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs and embrace skills that contribute positively to society. Priyam clinched silver medal in the 52 kg category at the CFN competition in Bali, Indonesia, after defeating an Indonesian opponent.
