Priyam Negi, who has won gold medal by representing Himachal Pradesh in PML, got a warm welcome at her home in Rampur.
Priyam has won the gold medal in this international level mixed martial arts competition by defeating her opponent from Mumbai.
Priyam Negi said due to lack of financial resources, she had to face many difficulties but her dream is to fly higher. She has appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, play sports and invest their energy in positive activities. Priyam added that she has represented Himachal Pradesh in PML. In this competition held in Mumbai, she won the gold medal in the 51-kg category.
After winning the gold medal in PML Mixed Martial Arts at the international level competition held in Mumbai on February 11, Priyam Negi reached her home to a warm welcome today. Priyam hails from a humble background as her father was a taxi driver and was unable to meet the expenses of the sport. However, he continued his efforts to take Priyam to her destination. Priyam said it is her desire to do better for the country, but financial constraint is a big challenge.
Priyam Negi’s father Pawan Negi said that in today’s era, mixed martial arts is very important for girls’ defense. He told that he also belongs to a poor family. By taking loan, they are taking their daughter forward. If a child has interest in sports, they should not lag behind. Pawan told that there were many difficulties in taking his daughter forward due to lack of financial resources.
Ward member Rampur Municipal Council, Kanta Negi said the daughter of Nankhadi area of Himachal has brought the gold medal for the state in PML competition. “This is a proud moment and inspiring for all of us. The new generation should stay away from drugs and spend energy on sports and positive work,” she said.
