In a major breakthrough, the Indora police in Nurpur police district seized 262 grams of heroin (chitta) from Rohit Kumar, son of Manjit Singh of Tamota village, during a raid on Friday. The raid was carried out after a tip-off, and the accused was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him under Section 21 of the NDPS Act.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Rohit Kumar is a habitual offender involved in repeated drug peddling. Police records show that he was earlier arrested on July 24 last year with 9.32 grams of heroin. After securing bail, he resumed the illegal trade and was again caught with 8.5 grams of heroin on April 24 this year. Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said the fresh recovery of a commercial quantity suggests Rohit’s link with interstate drug networks.
