Revenue Min tours Kinnaur border villages

Jagat Singh Negi, Minister of Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development, and Public Grievance Redressal, toured the remote border panchayats of Chitkul and Rakchham in Kinnaur district today. Minister underlined Chitkul’s strategic importance, not only as a part of Kinnaur district but also as a border area, and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the development of such regions. During his visit, he also listened to grievances of locals and assured that genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner.

Negi visited Batseri village, where he inaugurated the beautification project of Ukhyang Sanatang, developed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. He also dedicated the World Bank-funded irrigation tank and pipeline under the Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project, built at a cost of Rs 1.61 crore.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
