Rigzin Samphel Heyreppa is BJP prez for Lahaul & Spiti

Rigzin Samphel Heyreppa was elected the new district president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Lahaul and Spiti on Sunday.

The announcement was made during a gathering at the district headquarters in Keylong, which was attended by prominent BJP leaders — including Nachan MLA Vinod Kumar and former MLA Ravi Thakur — and several party workers from the district.

In his first address as district president, Heyreppa expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the BJP leadership for the trust placed in him, particularly extending his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur.

Heyreppa emphasised his commitment to strengthening the BJP’s presence in the district. He assured the gathering that efforts would be made to expand the party’s organisational base at the block level in close consultation with top BJP leaders and local party workers.

He highlighted the need to address the challenges faced by the region and promised to raise shortcomings of the state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Heyreppa said that the shortcomings of the current government would be brought to the public’s attention, and the benefits of Central Government schemes would be ensured for the residents of the tribal district.

The new district president vowed to work diligently to ensure that Lahaul and Spiti receives its rightful share of development and progress under BJP’s leadership.
