The Police Department has launched a War Against Drugs programme in the district to put a tab on the activities of drug peddlers and control drug abuse in the district. BS Thakur, Superintendent of Police, here said that to eradicate drug menace, public participation is the most important. “It will help in making this war a people’s revolution. This mission would be carried out in a strategic manner and would be taken to the village level,” he said.

The SP said that participation of representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions would be ensured along with social organisations. He said that special workshops would be organised to sensitise people and the police personnel at various police stations of the district. He said that members of PRIs could play a major role in the mission as they were more connected to people at the grassroots level.
