Ropar, HP cops conduct joint anti-drug operation

Ropar SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said 118 individuals hooked on drugs had been admitted to de-addiction centres in the district so far.
He said the Ropar police got admitted 83 addicts to government-run Nasha Mukti Kendra over the past three months to help them begin a new life. Additionally, 35 more drug addicts were also admitted for treatment and recovery.
The SSP said 220 FIRs had been registered and 346 drug traffickers arrested under the NDPS Act under the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign in Ropar district since March 1.
He said 285 kg poppy husk, 877 gm opium, 566 gm charas, 15,275 intoxicating pills and capsules, 352 injections, 862 gm heroin, 3.228 kg intoxicating powder, 430 gm ganja (cannabis) and Rs 2,56,835 drug money have been seized from the arrested traffickers. He said joint inter-state checkpoints had been set up by Punjab and Himachal Police to break the drug supply chain.
