KULLU, AUGUST 23

Tribal Development Minister Ram Lal Markanda held a meeting with officials of Ropeway Shimla and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, at Keylong today to develop facilities for adventure tourism and winter sports in Lahaul-Spiti.

The minister said the Rohtang tunnel had created new avenues for Lahaul valley. The connectivity will boost tourism and adventure sports. He said discussions were held with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari about setting up ropeways and developing international-level ski slopes.

The ABVIMAS had been developed by the tourism department as a consultancy agency to study the feasibility of ropeways.
