Rs 103 crore approved for development projects in Nawar region: Rohit Thakur

Education Minister Rohit Thakur on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the metalling work on the Tunadhar-Shaheed Nathuram Deorighat road at Nawar in the Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituency. He said that the project, being undertaken under the MLA Priority Scheme, would be completed at a cost of Rs 9.66 crore, improving transport facilities for local residents.

Rohit, while addressing the gathering, said that around Rs 103 crore had been approved through the Public Works Department (PWD) for the construction of roads and buildings in the Nawar region. “Of this, Rs 52 crore has already been released while the remaining amount will be allocated soon. Besides, around Rs 24 crore under the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment has been sanctioned for road maintenance, which will benefit locals, including horticulturists,” he added.

Later, the minister inaugurated a newly constructed building of Government Primary School at Kashaini in Tikkar, built at a cost of Rs 22 lakh.

“The state government is continuously working to strengthen educational infrastructure in rural areas. Providing children with modern and safe facilities remains a top priority. The Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency will emerge as a key educational hub in the coming years,” he added.

He said that the state’s first Government BPEd College had been established at Sawara, benefiting the youth of the region. “Besides, the state has received approval for two Kendriya Vidyalayas, one of which will be set up in the Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency,” he added.

The minister said that the government had decided to seek the affiliation of 100 government schools with the CBSE, including schools in Tikkar, Jubbal and Kotkhai, in the first phase.

“The construction of a Teacher Training Institute in Jubbal at a cost of Rs 17 crore is at present underway. Approval has also been granted for the establishment of an Integrated BEd College at Government Degree College, Tikkar,” he added.
