Rs 143 cr to be spent on welfare schemes for construction workers: Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was expected to earn a revenue of Rs 191 crore in fiscal 2024-25. He added that Rs 143.16 crore would be spent through various welfare schemes run by the board.

The Chief Minister said that Rs 30 crore would be spent on Mukhya Mantri Vidhwa/Ekal/Besahara/Divyang Mahila Aawas Yojana. As per the scheme, the government has decided to provide Rs 3 lakh as financial aid to build house for those having annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh.

“The decision has been taken to ensure the beneficiaries of the scheme could lead a respectable life,” said Sukhu, adding that an additional aid of Rs 1 lakh would be given for the construction of kitchen and toilet.

“The government was ensuring that the poor get their due rights and it has been decided that the Asha workers, anganwari workers and the helpers registered under the board, would be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana,” said the Chief Minister.

Sukhu said that the entire data of the board would be digitised so that people could benefit from the use of technology and working of the board could be improved.

He added that workers could get themselves registered through Lokmitra Kendras. Officials and non-official members of the Workers welfare Board, Secretary, Abhishek Jain and M. Sudha Devi, Secretary (Legal) Sharad Kumar Lagwal and CEO of the Board Rajiv Kumar were also present on the occasion.
