Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation (HPTDC) RS Bali said the state government was taking several steps towards increasing resources so that Himachal Pradesh could be developed as a self-reliant state.

In a press statement issued here, Bali said to make Kangra the tourism capital, an amount of Rs 3,000 crore was being spent in the district, which would bring economic prosperity to this area. A modern milk processing plant was being set up at Dhagwar in the district at a cost of Rs 250 crore.

He said the policies and programmes of the government would be taken to the people so that more and more people could take advantage of the welfare schemes of the government. The state government had fulfilled five out of its 10 guarantees during its 20-month tenure.

Fulfilling its first guarantee despite the state’s economic crisis, the state government restored the old pension scheme for 1.36 lakh government employees so that they got support in their old age. Along with this, extensive system changes were also being made in the field of education. English medium education was being started in all government schools from the first grade. Fulfilling the third guarantee, the state government had started the first phase of Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-up Yojana of Rs 680 crore.
