The Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, has etched its name in history by clinching its maiden championship title at the All-India Sainik Schools Hockey Tournament-2025 (Under-15) in Amaravathi Nagar, Tamil Nadu, today.

The school team represented the North Zone in the tournament. The young cadets of SSST clinched the championship with 2-0 victory over Sainik School, Goalpara, in the final match.

In semi-final, the Sujanpur Tira team defeated Sainik School, Tilaiya, 5-4, while in quarter-final it defeated Sainik School, Bhuveneshwar, 3-0.

Lt Col Rajinder Singh, Administrative Officer, said in league matches the school team defeated Sainik School, Bhubaneswar, 3-0, while its match against Sainik School, Chittorgarh, ended in a draw.

He said Cadet Satya Shivam Shastri was adjudged ‘Best Player’ of the tournament. He added that the historic triumph has also earned the team a berth in the prestigious Nehru Cup Hockey Championship scheduled to be held in New Delhi from October 8.

Congratulating the cadets, Gp Capt Rachna Joshi, principal, Cdr Akshay Sahu, vice-principal, and staff extended their best wishes to the team for the Nehru Cup. The principal said the team would be accorded a rousing welcome on its arrival at the school.
