Sanskrit Day celebrated

The Language, Art and Culture Department on Saturday organised a state-level Sanskrit Day celebration at Baba Balak Nath Temple, Deotsidh. The event featured various competitions, including Sanskrit Shlokacharan, a Sanskrit quiz and Sanskrit essay writing, aimed at promoting awareness and appreciation of the ancient language.

Satyam Kumari, Director of the Central Sanskrit University, Balahar in Kangra district, lauded the initiative, emphasising that Sanskrit is the root of India’s rich cultural heritage and that most ancient books and manuscripts were written in it. She noted that the government has launched several programmes to preserve, conserve and encourage the use of Sanskrit across the country. On the occasion, she also presented awards to the winners of the competitions.

The panel of judges included Dr Om Prakash Rahi, Rajesh Sharma, Shashi Sharma, Dr Bhajhari, Dr Vivek Sharma and Manoj Kumar.
