Saraswati school principal calls upon govt to appoint administrator

With the threat of closure due to “internal conflicts” looming over Saraswati Paradise International Public School, located at the Housing Board Colony in Sanjauli, Shimla, the principal of the school has demanded the state government to take immediate action in this matter and appoint an administrator at the school to prevent further disruptions, and to protect the future of the students.

The school is registered under the Society Act, and Himuda has leased land for the school to Nootan Rani, on behalf of Paramount Public School Education Society. However, following the deaths of the Mittal couple in 2020, their children have been embroiled in legal battles, each claiming ownership of the school. Addressing a press conference here today, principal Mandeep Rana said the school, which serves nearly 987 students, was at risk in the middle of the academic session.

He alleged that the situation at the school was deteriorating.

“The school is registered under the Society Act, and Himuda has leased land for the school to Nootan Rani, on behalf of Paramount Public School Education Society. However, following the deaths of the Mittal couple in 2020, their children have been embroiled in legal battles, each claiming ownership of the school. This ongoing conflict has created a disruptive environment within the school,” he said.

“Parents and teachers are increasingly concerned about the uncertain future of the students. Additionally, unauthorised residential structures have been built on the premises, where the society president reportedly hosts picnics with friends, further deteriorating the school’s environment,” he added.

The principal raised concerns about various “irregularities” within the school, and questioned Hemank Mittal regarding an Rs 8 crore loan taken for the school’s construction in Theog.

“Following this inquiry, the principal and three other teachers were abruptly terminated without reason. Consequently, the entire teaching staff has decided to collectively resign,” he said.
