This event marks a historic moment for the institution, which was upgraded from Sardar Vallabhbhai Cluster University to a state university in 2022. Awasthi said Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who was also the Chancellor of the university, would be the chief guest at the event.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the Governor for accepting the invitation. During the convocation, 311 degrees will be awarded to students from the 2020 and 2021 batches. These graduates, who were initially enrolled in courses at Sardar Vallabhbhai Cluster University, will receive degrees across six disciplines — MSc in botany, zoology, chemistry, physics, MA (history) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Medals will be awarded to meritorious students from these inaugural batches. Awasthi said he had met with the Governor, the Chief Minister and the Education Minister during a recent visit to Shimla to discuss the university’s progress and request support for the convocation.
