Heavy rain has disrupted normal life in Shimla, leading to the closure of many educational institutes in the district.

Authorities in six subdivisions -- Chopal, Kumarsain, Rampur, Sunni, Jubbal and Theog -- have ordered the closure of all educational institutes, including government and private schools, colleges, ITIs, and anganwaris, on August 6.

In Chopal, Kumarsain, Rampur, Sunni, and Jubbal subdivisions, the decision was made following the relentless rain since midnight.

Similarly, in Theog sub-division, heavy rain since the previous night prompted the closure of all educational institutes, with staff directed to follow government orders.

The Chandigarh-Manali national highway remained closed due to heavy rain and landslides between Mandi and Kullu.

Meanwhile, life was thrown out of gear in various parts of Solan district with incessant rain in the area since Tuesday night.

Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma ordered closure of all educational institutes in the district.

In Nalagarh sub-division, the key Ramshehar-Nalagarh road and Manpura-Davni-Dhella Thana-Dharampur road were closed after a bridge collapsed. With rivers in Baddi and Nalagarh in spate various link roads have been closed. Twenty roads under Kasauli sub-division were closed following landslides.
