Under the Community Awareness and Disaster Response Training Programme, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Pandoh, personnel taught disaster management skills to students at Government Degree College, Darang, in Mandi district yesterday.

SDRF Sub-Inspector Yashwant Singh said in the last rainy season, many villages in the Padhar area had suffered losses due to natural disasters.

Many times, it takes time for SDRF teams and the administration to reach the spot. Therefore, it is very important for the residents to be to be adept in disaster management so that relief could be provided quickly and rescue operations could be started in such situations.

During the training, SDRF members talked about the methods to be adopted for carrying out relief work during earthquakes, landslides, floods, etc., to the college students.

Along with training and awareness, the team also gave information about the state-of-the-art equipment of the SDRF to the students through an exhibition.

SDRF Sub-Inspector Yashwant Singh, Head Constable Balwinder and LHC Prince were among those present at the programme.
