Selection committee for HPU VC reconstituted

HPU, the premier institution of the state, hasn't had a regular VC for over two years

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has reconstituted the search-cum-selection committee for the selection of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The committee will now be headed by Ram Subag Singh, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister.

The members of the committee are Yogesh Singh, VC, Delhi University, and Professor Surender Kumar Dubey, former Vice Chancellor from Gorakhpur. CP Verma, Secretary to the Governor, is the member secretary of the committee.

The committee will meet in Chandigarh on October 22 to interact with the aspiring candidates for the post of HPU VC. As many as names of 22 candidates are said to be in the fray.

Apart from the candidates from within the state, many applicants from outside the state have also applied for the post. HPU, the premier institution of the state, hasn’t had a regular VC for over two years now.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
