Gaurav Bisht, the bureau head of the Hindustan Times in the state, passed away due to a cardiac arrest on Wednesday evening.

Bisht was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Medical College after he collapsed at home, but was declared brought dead by doctors.

He was 49 and has left behind his mother, wife and a son. The cremation will take place at his village in Rohru.

The state Legislative Assembly condoled the death of Bisht and two other scribes — Anand Bodh of the Times of India and Vipin Kala of Amar Ujala — who passed away recently. The Assembly also hailed their contribution to journalism.

Expressing grief over the demise of Bisht, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla praised him for his contribution to journalism, especially in the state, and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, BJP MP Anurag Thakur and Education Minister Rohit Thakur also condoled Bisht’s death.
