Sexual harassment case: Accused teacher suspended

The Directorate of School Education has suspended the teacher accused of sexual harassment by 24 girl students of the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Rajgarh, in Sirmaur district. The accused (TGT, non-medical) is in the police custody, and an FIR has been registered against him under Section 75 of the BNS and Section 10 of the POCSO Act.

Apart from placing him under suspension, the department has initiated a departmental inquiry against the accused. Ritu Gupta, Deputy Director (Quality), Samagra Shiksha, Nahan, has been tasked with conducting the preliminary inquiry.

The officer has been asked to visit the school, record the version of the students and staff and submit the report to the Director, School Education, within a week.

“It’s a very serious case, and we will take strict action against the offender once the inquiry is over,” said Ashish Kohli, Director, School Education.
