The Himachal Praddesh University unit of the SFI protested against the 10 per cent hike in fee. Campus president Ravinder Chandel said only those students who could not afford to enrol into a regular university studied through the ICDEOL and the fee hike would hit them badly. He said despite ICDEOL claiming that it was only a 10 per cent hike, the fact was that the hike ranged from 10 to almost 30 per cent in various courses. He said if the HPU did not roll back the fee hike, the SFI would be forced to intensify its agitation.
School gets NITI Aayog certification
The Government Senior Secondary School, Mandi, got a certification by the Niti Aayog for its good performance in November 2019. The school has done well in ATL (Atal Tinkering Lab) under the Atal Innovation Mission. Ashok Thakur, spokesperson of the school, said various models had been made by students like bluetooth-controlled car, smart dustbin with respect to forward and backward motion, smart blind stick, automatic traffic control system, etc. “All these models were made by using various components like ultrasonic sensors, bluetooth module (hc-05), battery, arduino, etc,” he added.
ABVP holds tiranga yatra
A tiranga yatra was taken out by the ABVP at the Government Degree College, Sanjauli, Shimla. ABVP district convener Sachin said the rally had been taken out as a mark of respect to the jawans who were killed in a terrorist attack in Pulwama on February 14 last year. More than 300 students participated in the rally from the college till Sanjauli Chowk. The ABVP activists raised slogans, appreciating the service of the armed forces and the sacrifices they make to protect the nation.
Farewell for Class XII students
Himalyan Public School, Nagrota Bagwan, organised a farewell for the students of Class XII. The function started with the lighting of the lamp by school director Anurag Gupta. Students of Class XI gave various cultural performances. Balloon game and musical chair games were also organised. Judges Ritika, Reema and Shikha Bhatnagar chose Mr and Miss Himalyan. Ritesh got the tag of Mr Himalyan and Priyanshi Mishra got the crown of Miss Himalyan. The Principal wished the students a bright future.
NSUI remembers Pulwama martyrs
NSUI activists at the Courtshera Government Degree College on Friday remembered the Pulwama martyrs on the first anniversary of the attack. The students offered floral tributes to the martyrs and observed a two-minute silence in their memory. NSUI unit president Deni Pangwal said the accused who had supplied RDX for the attack had still not been convicted. He demanded that the government should act strictly against all acts of terror.
Investiture ceremony
The investiture ceremony of Him Academy Public School, Vikas Nagar, was held on Friday. Naman Paul and Tsering were selected as the head boy and head girl of the school, respectively. Tamanna Chadda was selected as the round square head. Vahini and Anubhuti Thakur were selected as student council representatives. Nitish Thakur was selected as the NSS head while Tanya Singh Thakur and Sujal were selected as sports captain for girls and boys, respectively.
