Former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar today remembered the historical national executive meeting of the BJP held in Palampur in June 1989 when the party for the first time adopted a resolution on the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Shanta Kumar, while addressing mediapersons here, said that under the leadership of the then BJP president LK Advani in 1989, the two-day national executive meeting of the party was held at Palampur. The BJP adopted a resolution for the construction of a Ram Temple and sent a message to people across the country, he added.
Shanta Kumar addressed the press conference in the same room of the Rotary Bhawan where Advani had moved the resolution in the presence of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi and Vijayaraje Scindia.
Earlier, the BJP organised a special function in the Rotary Bhawan in view of the ‘pran pratishta’ ceremony of Ramlala at the Ram Temple.
