The Private Schools Parents’ Forum staged a demonstration at the Directorate of Higher Education to protest against the failure of the government to manage private schools and stop them from charging exorbitant fee. Some private schools were arbitrarily increasing the fee and charging for facilities that had been discontinued during the Covid-induced lockdown, said convener Vijendra Mehra. Reiterating the demand for setting up a regulatory commission for determining the fee structure and curriculum, he alleged that the government was dithering on the issue. The legislation was not brought during the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, even as the bill was ready and the process of seeking objections and suggestions had been completed.
