Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on Thursday identified 12 locations in the city for the sale of firecrackers during the upcoming Diwali festival. The designated areas are the Ice-Skating Rink, playground near Gopal Temple in Boileauganj, stretch beyond PWD parking towards Sanjauli from Chhota Shimla, near Trilok Chand shop at Khalini Bypass, HPU ground in Summerhill, open space along Chhota Shimla-Kasumpti road, ground near Government Senior Secondary School in Phagli, Panchayat ground at Bhattakufar near the bus stand, Sector 6 Kanganadhar, near Police Post in Vikasnagar, new parking area in Totu and Rani Ground in Kasumpti.

Kashyap said these orders would remain effective till October 21. The sale of firecrackers will be strictly restricted to these identified sites, with a complete ban elsewhere in the city. To ensure safety, the DC ordered the removal of all parked vehicles from these zones.

The MC and Public Works Department have been instructed to demarcate and set up stalls at each site, while the Fire Department has been directed to maintain necessary fire safety measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
