Chaunauti Sagroli from Shimla has topped the Himachal Pradesh Judicial Services Examination. She passed her Class XII from Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Shimla, and pursued her BALLB from the University Institute of legal Studies, Shimla, and LLM from Himachal Pradesh University. A gold medallist in BALLB and LLM, Chaunauti has cleared her UGC-NET. She also cleared Haryana Judicial Services Exam. The daughter of Sunita Sagroli (a school lecturer) and Daulat Sagroli (an advocate), Chaunauti wants to serve the people without being biased.

More than 310-km area was cleaned around schools by 27,976 students. Over 1,825-kg plastic waste was collected under the “Ek Din School Ke Naam” campaign, initiated by Sirmaur DC Dr RK Pruthi. Apart from this, 631 poly bricks, which will be used for building benches, flower pots and walls have also been made by the students. Dr Pruthi said out of 14 blocks, all primary, higher and senior secondary schools of 12 blocks of the district participated in the first phase. He said these 879 schools included 694 government primary schools, 73 government middle schools and 112 government higher and senior secondary schools of the district. “The campaign aims to bring about a behavioral change in the people to desist from littering in the open, where the defaulters will also be identified and made aware of the significance of cleanliness. They will also be fined if they fail to mend their behaviour,” he added.

Awareness on ills of drug abuse

District police chief Dr Monika Bhutunguru has been conducting a series of programmes in various educational institutions and organisations to create awareness on drug and alcohol abuse. One such programme was organised at Government Postgraduate Degree College, where the jawans of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Vangarh, gave presentations on the ills of alcohol and drug abuse. The district police chief said awareness would be created in schools and colleges, where police officials were also making an appeal to children through presentations, lectures and interactions to stay away from drugs. She urged the people to join the ongoing campaign.

Capacity building workshop

A two-day capacity building workshop was held at MRA DAV Public School, Solan, where teachers from seven DAV schools participated. Masooma Singha, principal, dwelt upon the importance of keeping abreast with the latest teaching and learning techniques. Kamana Beri, principal, DAV, Lakkar Bazaar, Shimla, addressed a session on how to stay calm and relaxed and gave the mantra of devotion, which could have a tremendous positive impact on the students. Dr Harneet Singh, principal, DAV, Parwanoo, spoke on the issue of emotional intelligence and gave tips on improving emotional skills. Principal, DAV, Solan, Masooma Singha concluded the session.
