Shimla (Rural) segment gets Rs 8-crore development projects

Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth Rs 8 crore for three panchayats in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency. He laid the foundation stone of the Gadkahan-Majhiwad-Sheel-Sharoh link road, which would benefit more than 1,400 villagers, and approved Rs 6.58 crore for the project.

Vikramaditya inaugurated a veterinary hospital in Devla panchayat constructed at a cost of Rs 32.72 lakh. He also inaugurated the Sanahu-Shelti link road constructed at a cost of Rs 72.12 lakh. “The Sanahu-Shelti link road is an important link and a plan will be prepared for its metalling in the future,” he said. He added that the construction of the 6-km Khatnol-Dandidhar road was underway under NABARD at a cost of Rs 7.48 crore.

Similarly, the work to upgrade the 6.5-km Shadi-Sanaula road at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore and the metalling of the Sanahu-Gulthani link road at a cost of Rs 1 crore was also underway. “Budget provisions will be made for the construction of two other roads in the area, including one from Khatnol to Dalana, connecting Gadkahan to Jabal, so that these can be completed soon and provide access to villagers,” he said.

The minister also sanctioned Rs 15 lakh for widening the playground of Devla school and laid its foundation stone. He said that efforts would be made to extend the road to the Shali Mata temple and develop the surrounding area for tourism purpose.
