Shimla university’s week-long FDP begins

Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsAlakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University (APGSU) on Saturday inaugurated a week-long faculty development programme (FDP) on the theme “Emerging Trends in Higher Education Policy: Shaping the Future of Learning and Innovative Research.” The programme is designed to enhance the academic, pedagogical and research capacities of faculty members, aligning with the transformative goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Convened by Dr Maninder Kaur, Head of the School of Sciences, the FDP reflects the university’s commitment to fostering academic innovation, inclusivity and excellence. The initiative aims to serve as a robust platform for professional dialogue and development around key themes shaping higher education in India and beyond.
The programme will delve into a wide spectrum of topics including policy reforms, digital transformation, pedagogical innovations, equitable access to education, internationalisation, research and knowledge creation, faculty development, quality assurance and graduate employability.
Eminent scholars and academic leaders are participating as resource persons. Key speakers include Prof Dev Dutt Sharma, Chairman of the Department of Geography at Himachal Pradesh University and founding Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Mandi; Prof PK Ahluwalia from the Department of Physics, HPU; and Dr Sandeep Chauhan, Chairman of the Department of Chemistry, HPU. Internal experts contributing to the sessions include Prof (Dr) Anand Mohan, Dean Academics; Prof (Dr) Ankit Thakur and Dr Devika Rana.
Through this initiative, APGSU aims to equip its faculty with the tools and insights needed to lead transformative changes in education and research, in step with national priorities and global best practices.
