Shimla’s Akash Sherpa emerged the overall winner in the 12th edition of MTB Shimla, a premier mountain bike race organised by Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA) that concluded with a grand celebration on Sunday. He also won the coveted ‘King of Shivalik’ title.

Uttarakhand’s Himanshu Dabral and Ayush Negi came second and third overall champions. Uttarakhand’s Priyanka Mehta won the ‘Queen of Shivalik’ title second year in a row.

As many as 94 participants participated in the challenging 120 km course over the past two days.

Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, praised the cyclists. He said, “Every participant here today exemplifies the true spirit of endurance and adventure. Your journey through the rugged terrain of Shimla is a testament to human perseverance and passion for the sport.”
